Tuberose is an important cut flower in Iran and throughout the world. Since nutrition is of crucial significance for the growth, development, and quality of ornamental plants, the present study aimed to explore the effect of different levels of humic and folic acids on yield and quantitative and qualitative traits of tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) based on a randomized complete block design with three replications in the Faculty of Agriculture, Agriculture and Natural Resources University of Gorgan, Iran in 2016. Humic and folic acids were applied at the rates of 0, 50, 100 or 150 mg L-1. The foliar application was performed in three phases, i.e. 30, 50 and 70 days after planting. The recorded traits included spike length, stem length and diameter, shoot fresh weight, floret number, leaf number and area, flower emergence time, bulblet number, root development depth, N, P and K content, vase life, and total chlorophyll. Analysis of variance showed that the application of humic acid significantly influenced all measured traits, except leaf number and flower emergence time. As humic acid rate was increased to 150 mg L-1, leaf total chlorophyll content was increased by 52 percent showing a significant difference with control. The foliar application of humic and folic acids increased N, P and K contents of leaves, and the strongest effect was observed at the rate of 150 mg L-1. The results lead us to the conclusion that the application of 150 mg L-1 humic acid and folic acid had the strongest impact on increasing the quantitative and qualitative traits of tuberose.

ZnO-NP/CPE electrode was applied for the simultaneous determination of Cd (II) and Hg (II). The electrochemical measurement of the elaborate sensor toward the hazardous metals ions was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), and square wave voltammetry (SWV). The response of the electrochemical sensor indicates that the ZnO-NP/CPE electrode show a high performance electroanalysis for Cd (II) and Hg (II). The suggested ZnO-NP electrode CPE has a linear straight line from 4.2 -21 µM and a lower detection limit (3σ) 4.2 for Cd (II) and 2.9 nM for Hg (II) under optimized experimental conditions. The elaborated sensor has been utilized with success for the simultaneous analysis of Cd (II) and Hg (II) in drinking water, and good results were achieved.

There exists the indeterminacy information of the truth and falsity assessment results due to the difference and uncertainty of decision makers’ judgments in complicated decision making (DM) problems. Then existing intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) and interval-valued IFS (IvIFS) cannot describe the indeterminate information of truth and falsity and also cannot represent the hybrid information and aggregation information of both IFS and IvIFS simultaneously. However, a neutrosophic number (d =  + vI) can flexibly represent the indeterminate information corresponding to indeterminate values/ranges of I  [I, I+]. Regarding the hybrid concept of IFS and NN, this study presents an orthopair indeterminate set (OIS), an orthopair indeterminate element weighted arithmetic averaging (OIEWAA) operator and an orthopair indeterminate element weighted geometric averaging (OIEWGA) operator to simplify and generalize the existing IFS and IvIFS expressions and aggregation forms. Thus, a multiattribute DM approach with indeterminate ranges of decision makers is developed based on the OINWAA and OINWGA operators and the score and accuracy functions of orthopair indeterminate elements in OIS setting. Finally, the proposed DM approach is applied to a multi-attribute DM example of manufacturing schemes (alternatives) in OIS setting to demonstrate the applicability and flexibility of the proposed DM approach in OIS setting. Consequently, the developed DM method shows its flexible and convenient advantages in orthopair indeterminate DM problems by comparison with existing relative DM methods.

The objective of this research is to study the influence of the film thickness on the optical and electrical characterizations of the prepared NiO thin films. For this; we use the thin films as a nickel Oxide, which has been prepared on the glass substrates by the a spin-coating technique using nickel nitrate hexahydrate (Ni(NO3)2.6H2O) as source materials. The coating process was repeated for 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 layer times to obtain a good NiO thin film. The optical and electrical characterizations were observed to be dependent for each film thickness. For smeller film thickness the thin films have a high optical transmission (over 88 %) in the visible of the longer of the wavelength higher than 400 nm. The bandgap energy was found to be in the range of 3.94–4.06 eV depending on the film thickness. The lowest value of Urbach energy was 0.182 eV. In the end, the electrical measurements are investigated by the four-point method, the results shows that the good electrical conductivity was found at 171 nm.

Twenty-four rams, aged 6-9 months were used to examine the effects of Aspilia africana on fertility of West African Dwarf rams. The experiment was in completely randomized design of 4 treatment groups with 6 rams per treatment group. Each treatment was replicated 3 times with 2 rams per replicate. Rams in treatment 1 (control) received 10ml of distilled water, orally while rams in T2, T3 and T4 were orally administered 1000mg/kg Body Weight (BW), 2000mg/kg BW and 3000mg/kg BW of aqueous Aspilia africana extract, respectively, using 10ml syringe for 64 days. Rams in all the treatment groups were fed 2kg of forages and 500g of the same concentrate diet daily. The weights of the animals were measured weekly. Testicular consistency was determined by palpating the testes of the experimental animals and scoring them, weekly, before and during the period of extract administration. A day after the end of the period of extract administration, four rams in each treatment group were slaughtered and testicular morphometric parameters were measured. Rams in T1 had the significantly lowest (P>0.05) mean body weight (12.00kg) whereas T4 had the highest (17.00kg). No significant difference (P>0.05) was observed in the testicular consistencies of the rams among the various treatment groups, pre-experiment. However, significant differences (P<0.05) were observed in the testicular consistencies of the rams among the various treatment groups during experiment with ram in T1 still retaining the same testicular consistency as that observed during pre-experimental period (2.50), while the testicular consistency scores for the treated rams increased to 3.50, 3.50 and 4.50 for T2, T3 and T4, respectively. Rams in T4 had the highest mean score while rams in control group (T1) had the lowest mean value. Significant differences (P<0.05) were observed in most of the testicular morphometric parameters measured except tunica albuginea weight and testes density. Rams in T1 had the highest significant values in all the measured parameters while T4 had the lowest values. This indicates that Aspilia africana has potentials to promote growth but may negatively affect fertility of rams. Thus, it is recommended that Aspilia africana should not be fed to animals meant for breeding until an anti-dote which can suppress its anti-fertility effect is discovered.

BACKGROUND\nEmotional intelligence is the capability of the individual to be aware of, control and express their own emotions and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. Emotional intelligence quotient is the key to become a successful leader and an INDIAN MEDICAL GRADUATE.\nAIMS & OBJECTIVES\nTo evaluate the emotional intelligence quotient amongst medical students from different parts of the country with diverse cultures. To compare the responses between those who had hostel experience and those who didn’t have. To evaluate gender variation.\nMATERIALS & METHODS\nThe study group comprised of 150 students from 1st MBBS of 2019-20 batch. The purpose of evaluating the emotional intelligence was clearly explained. After taking informed consent, the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire of self awareness and well being, developed by London Leadership Academy, was given to the students. It consists of 50 questions with a 5 point Likert scale. They were asked to mark the most appropriate option. The responses were evaluated and compared between those who had hostel experience and those who didn’t have. Gender difference of the opinions was also illustrated.\nRESULTS\nThe questionnaire for the emotional competencies is evaluated under five subheadings- self awareness, managing emotions, motivating oneself, empathy and social skill. A score of 35-40 is considered as an area of strength where the student is emotionally intelligent, a score of 18-34 is regarded as the area which needs attention and a score of 10-17 should be given priority for improving the emotional intelligence quotient. Out of 150 students, 89 were girls and 61 were boys, age ranging from 17-20 years. 86 students (57.34%) had a minimum of 1 year to maximum of 13 years hostel stay. Remaining 64 (42.66%) students never stayed in a hostel till now. The maximum score from the study was 47, for social skill given by a girl who is a hosteller. 16 was the minimum score which was also for social skill replied by a girl non-hosteller. Self awareness and social skills were the strength for girls whereas self awareness and empathy formed their strengths for boys. Attention should be paid to improve in the areas of managing emotions and motivating oneself for hostellers. Self motivation is required for girl non-hostellers according to the study.\nCONCLUSION\nThe emotional intelligence quotient was evaluated from the 1st year medical students where the new curriculum of Competency Based Medical Education is being implemented. Out of the five components of emotional intelligence, majority of the students have ‘self awareness’, ‘empathy’ and ‘social skill’ as their strength. The other two components – ‘managing emotions’ and ‘motivating oneself’, needs attention to be improved in most of the students.
